2004 Annual Meeting in Wuhan

  The 2004 Annual Meeting of the Association of Chinese Graduate Schools(ACGS)was held in Wuhan on October 22, 2004. (The Graduate School of China University of Geosciences was responsible for the meeting). The theme of the meeting was "Strengthening the Construction of Graduate Schools in China". The conference was attended by academician Yang Wei, director of Academic Degrees Office of the State Council, Li Jun, deputy director of Academic Degrees Office of the State Council, Guo Xinli, deputy director of 211 Construction Office of the Ministry of Education, deans or executive vice deans of 57 graduate schools nationwide, and leaders of Key Construction Division of Academic Degrees Office of the State Council.


  The meeting was chaired by Prof. Zhou Luwei, Vice President and Dean of Graduate School of Fudan University. The meeting briefed the research and progress of the research group of the Joint Conference on "Research on the Construction of Graduate Schools in China", discussed the "Draft Evaluation Index System of Graduate Schools" and the "Report on Strengthening the Construction of Graduate Schools in China" to be submitted to the Department of Degree Management and Graduate Education of the Ministry of Education. "Professor Zhang Guozhou, Executive Vice President of Graduate School of Peking University, briefed and negotiated with the General Assembly on behalf of the Secretary General on the issues related to the construction of the Joint Committee itself. The meeting also voted to approve the proposal of the deans and executive vice deans of the 22 graduate schools that were approved by the Ministry of Education to become graduate schools in June 2004 to become full members of the Joint Committee.
